The price of late model used machinery continue to remain firm at farm auctions. Machinery Pete owner Greg Peterson says while the number of auctions is increasing, the number of retirement auctions exceeds forced sales. “Despite the difficult times, farmers are still making the decision to retire.” Peterson is surprised at the machinery prices. “When dollars are tight and the price of new keeps going up, a lot of people are voting with their checkbook. If it’s in good condition, the price is holding well.”
