Carbon is becoming more of a market driver for the biodiesel industry. That’s according to National Biodiesel Board Director of Outreach and Development Tom Verry. “It’s in big demand in markets like California. We’re getting more involved in that. States don’t see carbon policies on the federal level, so they’re taking up the leadership role on the state level. It’s a big opportunity for biodiesel.” Verry says there is a commitment from the National Oilheat Research Alliance to go toward 50 percent blends of bioheat. “Customers are coming to us saying they want to purchase three billion gallons of your product each year. That’s wonderful news for soybean farmers, it will drive up demand for soybean oil.”
