November milk production in the U.S totaled 17.4 billion pounds in November; up a half percent from a year ago. USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service also revised the October milk production number up 1.4 percent from a year ago to 17.2 billion bounds. The number of milk cows in the nation’s dairy herd totaled 9.33 million head, unchanged from October, but 27,000 head less than one year ago. Average production per cow was up 15 pounds from one year ago to 1,869 pounds.
