The South Dakota Farmers Union approved four special orders during their annual meeting in Aberdeen. One special order calls on elected officials to investigate unfair marketing practices and encourage new competition in the meat packing industry. Another special order calls on state officials to make Ag in the Classroom part of a school’s educational standards. The others focus on the U.S. Postal Service and Checkoff Board appointments. These special orders of business will guide policy and legislative efforts in 2020.
