Minnesota Soybean Growers Association President Jamie Beyer is cautiously optimistic on the developing news of a phase one trade deal between the U.S. and China. “This has been a roller coaster negotiation in the past 1.5 years. We’re hopeful, but are realistic on how these trade negotiations go,” says Beyer. “We hear from the news a deal has been struck, head to our phones to check the markets and see a little bit of a tick up and then, the markets realize it’s not signed. As of now, there’s no new tariffs on December 15. A 25 percent tariff remains.”
