The fall run of cattle remains strong at Northern Plains auction barns. Stockmen’s Livestock Exchange at Dickinson, North Dakota had just under 4,000 head at Thursday’s sale. The 600 to 700-pound steers sold for $135 to $150 per hundredweight. The 500 to 600-pound steers at Napoleon Livestock Auction ran $141 to $174 per hundredweight with 4,900 head of cattle selling. South Dakota-based Mobridge Livestock Exchange sold over 6,100 head, with 550 to 600-pound steers bringing $146 to $195 per hundredweight. The Thursday sale at Mitchell Livestock Auction featured 6,200 head. The 900 to 950-pound steers sold for $144 to $150 per hundredweight.
