American Crystal Sugar Company will hold their annual meeting this week. Responding to the rough harvest, CEO Tom Astrup says the cooperative keeps working on the fundamentals of the sugar business. “This was the absolute worst harvest we’ve had in the history of our cooperative. It’s behind us. All we can do is move forward and help keep shareholders afloat.” The harvest will make an impact on farmer payments from the cooperative. “There’s some differences this year when we’re running at 65 to 70 percent of our normal volume. We’ve done our best to estimate to our shareholders what the payments will be.”
