Compared to 2018, the quality of this year’s sunflower crop in the Northern Plains is lower. A National Sunflower Association report shows an average test weight of 29.4 pounds, down from 31.5 pounds from last year. Oil content is also lower compared to the previous year at 42.6 percent. Sunflower moisture is at 11.7 percent and foreign material is 6.1 percent. Similar trends are being seen in the 2019 High Plains sunflower crop as well.
