Once harvest wraps up, farmers are putting the crop in the bin and locking the bin door. That’s the assessment from CHS Hedging market analyst Patti Uhrich. “They’re going to need finances to pay bills coming up, but they do have that MFP payment that allows them to hold onto that crop longer than normal.” Uhrich encourages farmers to watch for basis opportunities. “We see the corn and bean processors continuing to narrow the basis and farmers are not selling; it will get very, very interesting as time goes by.”
