Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative is about 80 percent finished with sugarbeet harvest. Vice President of Agriculture Mike Metzger says the cooperative transitioned from long term storage to short term storage due to the frozen beets. “As long as farmers can deliver a mud-free product, we have some tolerance. We are providing additional cleaning and screening capacity beyond the piling stations. We hope that works.” Metzger says the biggest issue is the dirt chunks and the mud. “It’s a battle, but we’re doing everything we can on the company end to be liberal in cleaning up for processing.”
