Andrew Streff from the McCook Central FFA Chapter in Salem, South Dakota is a finalist for the American Star in Agricultural Placement at the National FFA Convention. To be an American Star award finalist, one must go above and beyond in attitude, involvement, community service and their Supervised Agricultural Experience project. Streff’s project has three components: the family farm, working for the local farmer cooperative as an intern and an out-of-state internship with WinField United. Streff says it’s important to always keep learning. “You can always say what you know and talk about what you’re good at. The more important thing is to talk about what you don’t know and what can be improved so you can become a more well-rounded individual,” he says. “You can never know too much about agricultural production. The more we know, the better job we’ll do with it.” Streff attends South Dakota State University.
