Farmers in the northern Red River Valley are pushing to get sugarbeets harvested before cooler temperatures hit. At East Grand Forks, Minnesota, farmer Chris Adams says it was still slow moving on Monday. North of town, the sugarbeets are averaging around 33 tons. “We’re sitting at about 60 percent done with sugarbeets,” says Adams. “We are battling. Moving forward, it’s supposed to get super cold. We’re not sure if the sugarbeets will recover. There’s a good chance they’ll shut down harvest in the next few days.”
