Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative Vice President of Agriculture Mike Metzger says Minn-Dak’s sugarbeet harvest is moving at a snail’s pace. “Mother Nature is a cruel mistress. Every rain cloud that comes overhead drops some form of precipitation. We’d like to get farmers back in the field.” Metzger says there will be a few fields that are flooded out, but most growers were able to manage that pretty well during pre-pile. “You’d be surprised on how many growers recognize that and target those fields during pre-harvest. It’s not going to make as much impact as one would think.”
