The ethanol industry is still waiting to hear from the Trump administration on a Renewable Fuels Standard announcement. At issue are small refinery waivers. Primghar, Iowa farmer Kelly Nieuwenhius wants the Trump administration to reallocate lost gallons and says farmers will be holding the president accountable for what happens. “When he made the call to grant those 31 small refinery exemptions, you can’t believe how many upset farmers I was with that day that said they were done voting for President Trump,” says Nieuwenhius. “That was the last straw. I think it’s his political future to get the small refinery exemptions fixed and gallons reallocated.”
