National Biodiesel Board (NBB) CEO Donnell Rehagen tells the Red River Farm Network he hasn’t seen any details on next steps on the Renewable Fuel Standard from the White House as of Friday afternoon. “I do know President Trump and his supporters in Iowa have hoped for a party of sorts in the state for a grand announcement,” says Rehagen. “Maybe we’ll get some insight something like that’s coming if in fact this is going to be decided in a way that we’re hoping it should.” At the end of the day, Rehagen says NBB members want an honest assessment of small refinery waivers on an annual basis. If that isn’t addressed, Rehagen says RFS volume increases are meaningless. He also says biodiesel has the potential to meet increased demand. “We have about 30 to 35 percent of our current capacity offline. The demand set by the renewable volume obligations aren’t in line with our current production capacity.”
