Friday’s USDA Cattle on Feed Report shows the number of cattle in South Dakota feedlots totaled at 205,000 as of September 1. That’s an increase of three percent from one year ago. Placements during August totaled 45,000 head, down eight percent from last year. August marketings totaled 34,000 head, down 29 percent from one year ago.
