A South Dakota feedlot operator allegedly operated a scam where he would resell the same cattle repeatedly and collect feed bills from customers for non-existent cattle. The case against Bob Blom reportedly involves 30,000 head of non-existing cattle, valued at more than $30 million. Blom, who operated a feedlot at Corsica, South Dakota, also pled guilty to writing bad checks. In addition to 180 days in jail, Blom was ordered to pay $135,000 in restitution to a Lehr, North Dakota cattle buyer. A payment plan of $275 per month was set up, which means it would take about 40 years to pay off the debt.
