Near Ada, Minnesota, famers are pre-piling sugarbeets. Farmer John Brainard says conditions are a little sticky in the fields. “I think we are average or just slightly above average at pre-pile. It’s hard to tell, but the tonnage could be good in our area. The sun helps.” The full harvest campaign begins in the first week of October. Soybean harvest isn’t far away either. “We usually end up harvesting sugarbeets and soybeans at the same time. The soybeans are maturing quickly with the warm, dry weather. I’m thinking by the end of next week we could start soybean harvest.”
