The controversial Waters of the United States is back in the news again. “EPA and the Army (Corps of Engineers) are officially repealing the 2015 definition,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. Wheeler said a new definition will be created to provide greater regulatory certainty for farmers, land owners and others. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue called this action “a major win for American agriculture.” A wide variety of agriculture groups, ranging from Farm Bureau to Farmers Union and from the National Association of Wheat Growers to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, praised the move. The National Wildlife Federation is upset with the administration’s decision, claiming it will jeopardize safety for people and animals.
