A U.S. trade delegation is back from a trip to Canada. U.S. Soybean Export Council Regional Director Kevin Roepke was on the tour. He says the trade disputes between Canada and China had attention throughout the week. “There are two suppliers blacklisted to export canola to China. That’s cast an overall shadow to the export situation from Canada to China,” explains Roepke. “A lot of exporters aren’t willing to take a risk this year as opposed to the window of arbitrage being there for Canadian soybean exports and the U.S. back sale of soybeans into Canada.” Roepke says the concerns were echoed by Canada. “There’s too much uncertainty with the Canadian exporters dealing with China to go out on the limb and arbitrage U.S. soybeans.”
