According to Reuters, the Administration decision to grant 31 new small refinery waivers was prompted by a phone call between President Trump and EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. The news has upset farm groups and lawmakers. National Corn Growers Association CEO John Doggett described the demand destruction, due to trade and ethanol, as a “body blow” to farmers. Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst said farmers are angry and this news is very disappointing.
