USDA has issued a series of complaints for alleged violations of the Packers and Stockyards Act. Once case involves Mark Robinson of Robinson Livestock of South Dakota, who allegedly bought livestock without the necessary bond or bond equivalent. Another investigation determined Keith Jensen Livestock of South Dakota failed to pay on a timely basis for over 2,000 head of cattle in 2014 and 2015. Jonathan Sivertson of Souris, North Dakota is facing a complaint over the failure to pay the purchase price for livestock that were bought in 2017. Sivertson Farms allegedly also issued two insufficient fund checks to livestock sellers. These entities have 20 calendar days to respond to the USDA administrative law judge or face civil penalties.
