Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue will join American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall Wednesday, starting the day at the Minnesota Farm Bureau breakfast. Perdue will also be part of a listening session on the farm economy with House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson, Minnesota Senator Tina Smith and other lawmakers. Farmfest forum coordinator Kent Thiesse expects to see a variety of topics discussed, including “the struggling farm economy and trying to make ends meet.” Farmfest will also include an address by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and a forum with nine different state agencies. “I really have to thank the new Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen for getting that put together. This will include commissioners from MPCA, DNR, MNDOT, Department of Health and Department of Economic Development.” Farmfest will be held Tuesday through Thursday near Redwood Falls.
