The wheat across the Northern Plains looks decent. WestBred Wheat regional commercial manager Troy Sayler says there are some dry pockets in north central and northwestern North Dakota. “In other areas, we did have the polar opposite with excessive rain.” With all of the moisture and optimal temperatures, Sayler says there will likely be more Fusarium head blight. Lodging will also be a concern. “As more systems come through, growers need to watch for lodging. Also, if wheat is flowering it’s not too late to apply a fungicide.”
