U.S. soybean farmers are facing multiple headwinds, including weather and trade difficulties. With these unique times, opportunities arise that might not otherwise arise. That was United Soybean Board CEO Polly Ruhland’s message to over 200 farmer directors, staff and guests gathered in Fargo for the summer board meeting. “At the checkoff, we’ve thought about how to diversify the soybean portfolio,” says Ruhland. “We’re looking not only to expand our international markets beyond mature markets, but also into the industrial use area.
