Nitrogen has been lost this spring, especially in the wetter areas. Helena product manager Dr. Jim Loken says that is evident once you get a close look at the stand. “I was walking fields in southeastern South Dakota and if you are in southeastern North Dakota, there’s been some crusting issues,” said Loken. “Specifically, on the corn side, it is not hard to find uneven stands.” Loken says there are still opportunities to feed the crop. “When Mother Nature throws curve balls at us, like she did this year, we can definitely supplement and fine-tune it.”
