There was little change in U.S. milk production over the past year. For the 24 major dairy states, May milk production is down a fraction of one percent from last year. Minnesota milk production declined 0.2 percent, impacted by a 6,000 head drop in the size of the state’s dairy herd. South Dakota’s milk output increased slightly, with cow numbers increasing 2,000 head over the past year.
