Mother Nature has thrown everything, but the kitchen sink at farmers this spring. BASF Technical Service Representative Ken Deibert says it has been a very unusual start to the growing season. “I know there were a lot of pre herbicides missed in corn, soybeans and other crops. Everyone needs to remember to at least get a residual herbicide with the post herbicide application.” Deibert says years like this will exaggerate the issue with resistant weeds, putting more emphasis on residual herbicide applications. The small grain crop is off to a good start and fungicide applications will be needed to protect yield. “When we mitigate that stress on the plant we can definitely reap the rewards at the end of the day.”
