Former North Dakota State University Extension swine specialist Dr. David Newman is the new president of the National Pork Board. Newman is now part of a family farrow-to-finish swine operation in Missouri and is an associate professor at Arkansas State University. The threat of African Swine Fever is a top priority for the Pork Checkoff. Newman will also focus on promotion and research. “We’re looking at increasing the value of U.S. pork; not just the amount we move, but also its value as a protein.” Newman succeeds Steve Rommereim, who raises pigs in southeastern South Dakota.
