Corn planting is still underway in parts of the southern Red River Valley. Pioneer strategic account manager Jeremy Baumgarten says the crop is also emerging. “For a crop that was planted from May 12-15, we’re sitting at about 200 growing degree units,” says Baumgarten. “The corn in the ground should be at emergence right now. That will give us a good idea on the final stand. We highly encourage growers to be out and checking stands right now.” In some cases, replanting may be warranted.
