The grain markets are all about the weather and will be for another two weeks. Brock Associates market analyst Richard Brock says delayed planting is a big problem, especially in Indiana and Ohio. “There will be many prevent plant acres in many states. There could be at least five million acres of corn that won’t get planted. If that is the case, we could lose 850 million bushels of corn production,” says Brock. “It’s too early to tell about corn planting until later in June. Indiana farmers will still plant up to June 15 without prevent plant.” He also thinks the corn and soybean markets will move higher than expected and things could get very volatile.
