A trade agreement with Japan would be beneficial for many in agriculture, including wheat growers. U.S. Wheat Associates Director of Policy Ben Conner says growers are eager to know when an agreement will be made. “When is very important and how is too,” says Conner. “There are steel tariffs on Japan right now. I think the tariff approach, particularly on the steel and aluminum side, hasn’t helped our trade position. We’re hoping to see those go away. We hope that will help us in a trade agreement with Japan.”
