As of Friday, Minnesota legislative leaders still haven’t reached a budget agreement. Chair of the House Agriculture and Food Finance and Policy Division Jeanne Poppe said it’s difficult to see how work can be completed in a session wrapping up Monday. “Once they come up with a plan, either we get it done Monday, continue to work Tuesday or Wednesday or choose a day in late May or early June to say when we’ll come back and conclude the work.” Poppe is reviewing agriculture funding bills in conference committee. The agricultural policy omnibus bill is on its way to the governor. Attention now shifts to the agricultural finance bill. “Once we have numbers, we then have to really kick it into gear to go back and forth to determine what spending will be in areas.”
