In the final days of the North Dakota legislative session, funding was secured for NDSU Extension and the ag research budget. North Dakota Farmers Union Legislative and Member Advocacy Supervisor Kayla Pulvermacher says funding will stay whole. “There won’t be any cuts like in the last two sessions, so we definitely consider that a win.” Governor Doug Burgum did approve legislation making changes to North Dakota corporate farming laws. The bill adds second cousins to the farm structure. Pulvermacher says the legislation weakens corporate farming laws. “We’re going to continue to work on that issue and protect that law going forward.”
