During his visit to North Dakota, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced the deadline to report production for USDA’s Market Facilitation Program will be extended to May 17. The extension was welcomed by North Dakota Farm Service Agency Director Brad Thykeson. Farmers in parts of the state are still harvesting the 2018 crop this spring. “The soybean producers got nixed on a bad fall last year and with the tariffs. Put those two things together, and there is a lot of anxiety over what’s going to happen this spring,” says Thykeson. “The extension shows that the administration is very responsive to the concerns of the producer.”
