The 2019 crop is going in the ground. At Walhalla, North Dakota, farmer Patrick Dunnigan is seeding wheat. “We got 100 acres of wheat in so far on some sand that typically dries up in a hurry. Next, we’re going to put in some field peas.” says Dunnigan. “I thought it was going to be a struggle to get in by the end of April, but it’s not going to be a problem. We were dry up here last fall, so that’s probably helping get us in a little quicker.” Dunnigan says it’s still too early to plant corn. Soils temperatures are ranging from 43 to 47 degrees Fahrenheit.
