Included in the Minnesota omnibus Senate agriculture finance bill is funding for a Crookston soybean crush and biodiesel facility. Callaway farmer Bill Zurn says the $5 million available for the Soy Innovation Campus at the University of Minnesota Crookston would help get things started. “That will help the university bring in more students and then, they can do on-the-job training at the Soy Innovation Campus.” Zurn says overall funding for the facility is off to a good start. “We’re on step seven or eight of 1,000, but we’ve come a long way. We have a few meetings coming up, starting to discuss more of this publicly with more area farmers.”
