North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne and South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke met with members of the Surface Transportation Board this past week to discuss rail shipping costs and the impact for farmers. With only four major rail companies in the U.S., Watne said the rail industry is operating as a monopoly.
