The National Pork Producers Council announced the 2019 World Pork Expo has been canceled. The decision comes as African swine fever continues to spread in China and other parts of Asia. Currently there is no vaccine for the disease, prompting event coordinators to exercise caution in preventing its spread into the United States. World Pork Expo is held each June at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, hosting 20,000 visitors over three days.
