About 2,000 attendees filled Frost Arena at South Dakota State University for the opening session of the State FFA Convention. The session begins a week of leadership, personal growth and recognition of successes in the organization. It’s also a bittersweet week for the state officer team as they wrap up their year of service. State FFA Secretary Marie Robbins gave her retiring address during the opening session. “The one big point I want people to take away is no matter the circumstances, you can always choose to go beyond and thrive.” Beyond is the theme of the convention, meaning members can improve and go beyond to face challenges and positively impact others. The convention wraps up Tuesday. RRFN’s coverage is sponsored by the South Dakota Farmers Union.
