The North Dakota Senate has unanimously passed an amendment to House Bill 1467. The original bill moved grain regulation from the Public Service Commission to the Agriculture Department. The Senate determined more study is needed on agricultural issues, such as grain brokers and roving grain buyers. Last year’s insolvency of a Leeds, North Dakota roving grain buyer resulted in millions of dollars in losses for farmers, bringing attention to this oversight issue. The amended bill now returns to the House for another vote.
