The keynote speaker at the International Sugarbeet Institute, Dan Colacicco, answered questions and updated sugarbeet growers on trade and policy. Colacicco says trade agreements are always a concern, but the sugar policy in place is working. “Right now, the U.S. policy is any surplus needs we have go to Mexico. That came out of the North American Free Trade Agreement,” explains Colacicco. “I don’t know if we have any room for Brazilian sugar.”
