According to North Dakota Soybean Council Executive Director Stephanie Sinner, marketing is a timely topic given the current farm economy. Many farmers still have the 2018 crop in the bin and are thinking about how to move that crop. Sinner explains that the main concept to understand about marketing right now is volatility. “And it changes by the minute. Not by the day or even by the hour. So we’re helping our producers learn how to manage some of this risk and do the planning,” says Sinner. “Understanding basis behavior, hedging, options and the cash and futures markets is all important.”
