China to Bring More Acres into Production

Crop production will be one of the development priorities for China in the year ahead. A just-released Government Work Report says 5.3 million hectares of high-quality farmland will be brought into production. The report emphasized the need for technology development in agriculture. New crop breeding technologies and modern farm equipment are cited as important. This report also said China needs to control livestock diseases, like African Swine Fever, to ensure food security for its people.
