As National Farmers Union considers policy, North Dakota delegates are pushing for additional assistance to help farmers during the trade war, making sure farmers and ranchers have a chance to survive tough times. North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne says the additional assistance request goes beyond the Market Facilitation Program. “We need to reach out into a disaster-type scenario, where we can get it to all of the crops impacted,” says Watne. “The MFP program was unfair to all crops impacted by low soybean prices including canola and sunflowers (and others).”
