CHS has acquired Willmar, Minnesota-based West Central Distribution. CHS has owned 25 percent of West Central since 2015. CHS Agronomy Senior Vice President Gary Halvorson says this acquisition complements its existing crop nutrients business. “West Central is largely a crop protection company and from a distribution standpoint was a space we wanted to operate in; it is a value-add for the cooperative and our members.” The 200 employees that were working for West Central are now part of CHS. The West Central brand will continue initially. “CHS will be planful in our integration; we recognize that West Central, particularly in the Upper Midwest, has brand relevance and we want be thoughtful with the integration plan.” The staff that comes with the West Central acquisition will report to Halvorson. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
