This year’s Commodity Classic was a bit calmer for Arthur, North Dakota farmer Kevin Skunes. A year ago, Skunes was president of the National Corn Growers Association and the relationship with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue was on shaky ground. “We’re just happy with Secretary Perdue compared to one year ago,” Skunes told RRFN. “The ethanol issue was a big sticking point with the Administration a year ago.” During his appearance at Commodity Classic, Perdue agreed, “what a difference a year makes; last year, you all hadn’t figured out if you liked me yet.” There was some back-and-forth from the Trump Administration about the year-round availability of E15 over the past week. On Friday, Perdue made clear the rule would be ready by June 1.
