Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue talked E-15, trade, tariffs and more at Commodity Classic. Speaking to reporters, Perdue was asked about the current farm economy, especially its impact on the young farmer. “It’s tough. Their fathers and grandfathers have gone through similar times. I’m not going to lie, there is no silver bullet,” Perdue went on to say there are some USDA programs available to help young farmers, but there are no easy answers. “We know that working capital has gone down. The good news is, at least for those who are established, farm value levels have held up which keeps the debt to asset ratio pretty stable.” Listen to more of the story.
