The World Trade Organization has ruled in favor of the U.S. in a complaint alleging unfair subsidies for Chinese rice and wheat producers. China’s market price support policy artificially raises Chinese prices for grains above market levels, creating incentives for increased Chinese production of ag products and reduced imports. U.S. Wheat Associates welcomed the ruling saying U.S. farmers were hurt by China’s overproduction and protectionist measures for too long and its time China start living up to its commitments.
