Trade agreements, appropriations and infrastructure were all addressed during the National Potato Council D.C. Fly-In. Executive Vice-President and CEO John Keeling says Congress has a chance to work in a bipartisan way on infrastructure. “We need a bill that looks at our roads and bridges, a bill that looks at the Electronic Logging Device rules, hours of service and truck weights,” he says. “I think we have a huge opportunity to do that.” Keeling says increasing truck weights would benefit the potato industry. “If we could increase truck weights with a six-axle to 100,000 pounds, it makes everybody more efficient.”
